I'm Tyrone penning | Acupuncturist & Manual Therapist - founder of Meridian Health and your dedicated practitioner here in Auckland. My journey into health and wellness has been driven by a deep curiosity about how the body works and a passion for helping people overcome pain and limitations to live fuller lives.
I believe true healing requires more than just managing symptoms; it requires a systemic understanding of the body. My practice bridges the gap between the ancient, time-tested wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and a rigorous, engineering-informed perspective on biomechanics and neuromuscular function. While foundational texts like the Dao De Jing provide the philosophical framework for my work, my background in engineering provides the analytical lens through which I view the body’s complex mechanics.
The Evolution of Vector-Guided Release (VGR)
This drive for precision led me to develop Vector-Guided Release (VGR) a specialized manual therapy technique born from the synthesis of structural analysis and tactile sensitivity. VGR focuses on identifying specific mechanical restrictions through careful assessment, utilizing gentle, cooperative, patient-guided movements to "recalibrate" and restore optimal function.
A Partnership in Healing
Whether I am using Acupuncture to regulate the nervous system and reduce inflammation, or employing Manual Therapy to resolve deep-seated physical patterns, my goal is to work with your body’s natural capacity for recovery.
I prioritize building a trusting partnership and developing treatment plans tailored to your specific health goals. A central pillar of my practice is fostering body awareness. I help you understand how subtle, everyday habits such as your standing posture or the way you sit can significantly impact your long-term spinal health and vitality.
My commitment to providing high-quality care is reflected in my qualifications and ongoing learning:
Since beginning practice in 2010, I've gained extensive experience in various clinical settings, including integrative physiotherapy and chiropractic clinics, a naturopathic oncology clinic, and managing my own successful practice, Meridian Health. I've also had the privilege of serving as Head of Clinic Department and Clinic Supervisor at the NZ School of Acupuncture and TCM. This diverse background has enriched my understanding of collaborative care and effective treatment strategies for a wide range of conditions.
My background also includes studies in Engineering, which fostered the analytical and problem-solving approach I bring to understanding complex biomechanics. I believe in a holistic view of health, incorporating principles of mindful movement, breathwork, and lifestyle balance into my own life. Practices like conscious breathing, regular meditation, and connecting with nature through walks in the bush help me maintain clarity and perspective. And yes, occasionally an invigorating cold water plunge serves as a powerful reset! Staying prepared with healthy food choices is also key to maintaining daily energy and focus. These personal practices reinforce the wellness principles I share with my patients.
I am dedicated to providing compassionate, effective care. If you're seeking lasting relief from pain or looking to improve your overall well-being, I invite you to explore how the integrated approach at Meridian Health can help.
